the evolution of virtual reality
The application of Virtual Reality (VR) remains in its infancy, but is evolving promptly. Currently, the base-line criteria for virtual reality include simulation of three-dimensional vision such as by a Head Mounted Display (head mounted display), measurement of hand location and configuration to manipulate artificially constructed objects -- for example, by a motion-measuring glove, and sound that reasonably coracts to components in the created place. Simple simulated touch through a pressure-resistance hand device is increasingly common. In any event, this is still not needed to meet the minimum definition of virtual reality. See related material at Vertical360 for more about virtual reality.
Humans interface with computing systems frequently. Every time a cellular phone shows an e-mail or a person moves a mouse, they connect on some level with a virtual world. Most of these connections are relatively minor relative to the total setting and are not called virtual reality. What proportion of human attention should be activated by the interaction with computer-simulated components for that communication to be called virtual reality?
